The idea of building an aquarium in Boulogne-sur-Mer, which would be a leisure centre, a research centre and an educational centre, dates back to the late 1970s. In 1991, the Société d'Exploitation du Centre National de la Mer was created. The Centre National de la Mer (National Sea Centre) was named Nausicaá. It opened to the public on the 18th of May 1991. → Learn more about Nausicaá in a few dates
